MICHAEL MACLENNAN is a Dublin-based pianist, singer, songwriter and teacher. He has performed on many of the UK and Ireland's most established venues as both an artist and a sideman. As a songwriter he has released two studio albums and a number of EPs, the most recent, ROAMING SOUL, receiving critical acclaim and national airplay. He is currently in the studio recording material for a new EP set for release in 2018.
Showcasing a love of Americana, soul music and classic song writing of the seventies era, ROAMING SOUL, produced by Gavin Glass, is an intimate and authentic collection ranging from gospel-tinged ‘On The Right Side Now’ to the Fleetwood Mac inspired, guitar-driven title track. Stand-out album closer ‘Old River’ was recorded at the legendary Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, by Grammy-winning engineer Matt Ross-Spang (Jason Isbell, Margo Price, Anderson East). Praised by producer Gavin Glass as “one of the greatest writers and musicians I’ve worked with”, MICHAEL MACLENNAN relocated to Ireland shortly after releasing his critically acclaimed debut album WOLVES in 2012. He has since established himself as one of Dublin’s most in-demand musicians performing on stage with Gavin James, Paul Brady, Declan O’Rourke, Mundy, Wallis Bird, Lisa Hannigan and Gavin Glass amongst many others.
A passionate and dedicated teacher he established THE MUSIC INSTITUTE in 2015 with the mission to provide a creative and inspiring space for students of all levels and ages to learn and enjoy music.
